CLASSICAL HOUR led by Laura
Skuce
Town Hall @ 5pm
Laura started the piano at the age of 5, the
oboe at 10 and joined the Junior Department at the Royal Academy
of Music at 11, finally being accepted for full time studies at
16, studying with Lady Barbirolli and Janet Craxton. Her professional
life began with singing at the piano, which has taken her across
the world on the QE2 and led to an appearance on Opportunity Knocks
and other television shows, both here and abroad. Laura is now
much in demand as a singing teacher and has a new post as Musician
in Residence at Cottesmore Private School, as well as teaching
singing at Pennthorpe Preparatory School. She is also frequently
called upon as oboist and accompanist for local orchestras and
choral societies. A full-time mother of three, she spends her
spare time playing in church and jiving, but says she can't stay
awake long enough to read a book anymore!
