OPEN MIC
SHOWCASE
Entries: Forum Stage 10 am
Final: Bandstand (Carfax) 12:30pm
Local budding talent takes to the big stage in
an "Open Mic Showcase". The event will be hosted by
Dave Toye, who stages regular Open Mic meetings around Horsham,
including those at The Cherry Tree and The Bridge House on alternate
Tuesday evenings. Open Mic sessions give each artist an opportunity
to play 2 to 3 songs and in doing so, receive support, encouragement
and constructive feedback from fellow musicians, as well as, of
course, the appreciation from a supportive audience who are eager
to see a wide variety of acts. 13 year old Charlotte Rose, who
captured the hearts of the festival organisers with her drive
and determination to succeed, opens the session at 10:00am by
playing Mozart’s "Turkish March" and Beethoven’s
"Pathique Vol 2" – so make sure you get there
in time so as not to miss her! Charlie has played at numerous
school talent shows and has competed twice in the ‘Battle
of the Bands’. Yes, ‘anything goes’ in an Open
Mic session, so if you think you've got what it takes, come along
and have a go – and make sure you get there early as after
the first act, artists will be allocated on a first come, first
served basis.
Finals
Judges will decide on the best of the Open Mic
Showcase entries from the morning’s session and the winner
will get to play again on the Bandstand at 12:30pm. So, don’t
forget all you budding artists out there, "you’ve got
to be in it to win it", as they say!
